Cannons

'Member get member' viral email marketing campaign

Highly successful ‘Member get Member’ marketing campaign

Emailed to 20,000 members, email forwarded 60,000 times

20,000 new email addresses obtained and 6,000 people claimed free 1 day pass

Objectives

Cannons (now Nuffield) was one of the leading private health and fitness operators within the UK. Cannons appointed Wisetiger to help them develop new leads for the clubs, penetrate a focused market close to their clubs, drive new memberships and reduce the cost of marketing and advertising.

Results

Wisetiger created a viral email which was sent to all members of the club that had provided an email address. The email invited them to take part in an online fitness quiz to discover their fitness personality - from fitness freak to couch potato. A ‘send to a friend’ facility at the end of the quiz also allowed them to enter a competition.

Mailed to 20,000 members the email was then forwarded 60,000 times which generated 20,000 new email addresses being registered at the website. A total of 6,000 people claimed a free one day pass.
