New Social Networking Strategy and Website Design for Farnham Town Council

Facebook pages, Twitter profile and new website go live for local authority

Farnham, Surrey – 15th September 2010 - Wisetiger has successfully developed a range of social networking tools and a new website design for Farnham Town Council. Using Facebook and Twitter the Council's objective is to reach a wider demographic of citizens than is currently reached through more traditional communication channels.

The social networking tools will include dedicated Facebook pages for events such as Music in the Meadows and Picnic in the Park, alongside pages promoting Farnham in Bloom and the Farmers Market.  Defining strategies, policies and procedures, Wise Tiger has launched the Council's new look website, refreshing the site's design and navigation. A Google search facility has been integrated into the home page which allows visitors to find exactly what they are looking for with greater ease.

The initiative supports the Mayor’s mantra for his tenure which is ‘communication.’ Providing clear links between the Council and the local community the website now also features 'quick links' that have been define by the most popular searches, and Flickr, which allows pre-approved citizens to upload and share photos taken at local events. A Twitter presence can also be seen on the site promoting urgent news alerts; a vital tool that updates all followers in a time efficient manner.

Andrew Shaw, Managing Director at Wisetiger says, “The results gained from integrating social networking tools and a new website into the Council's current formation embraces the Mayor’s move into more modern channels of communication.”  He adds, “Farnham Online was awarded a website Tourism Excellence Award in 2007 and we've built on that success by harnessing the involvement and engagement of its 38,000-strong community.”

Developing the Farnham Town Council website and its social networking tools enhance the modern communication lines between the organization and public; ensuring that the Council reaches a wider demographic of citizen. For more information on Farnham Town Council please visit  www.farnham.gov.uk/
