How to create a Company Page Profile on LinkedIn

Creating a business page on LinkedIn is pretty straightforward. It will take a little bit of time and effort, but it will be worthwhile if the job is done properly.

Follow these instructions to set up your Company Page on LinkedIn:

  1. Login to your account at LinkedIn by clicking on your name in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. On the navigation bar you will see a link to ‘Companies’ — click on this link.
  3. On the following page you will see a link called ‘Add a Company’… it’s over on the right hand side of the page. Click this link.
  4. Follow the instructions on the ‘Add a Company’ page. LinkedIn will send you an email which will allow you to confirm the company page set-up.
  5. Check your Inbox! Fingers crossed you’ll have an email from LinkedIn (check your junk folder if it doesn’t arrive). Click on the link in the email.
  6. The link from the email will open a window in your browser. Check the information and confirm. Then hey presto! You’re in!
  7. Ok, here’s the part when you’ll need to get creative. Now is the time to create some content for your company, upload a logo etc. When you’re done, click on the ‘Publish’ button at the top right hand side of the screen.
  8. After you’ve created your company profile you can also select ‘Promote my  products’ and ‘Add a product or service’. Click on the links and you will be prompted to enter information about your product/service on the next screen. Once you have added at least one product or service, you will be able to create a landing page for your products and services.
  9. The cool thing about this is that you can create different versions of this landing page that you can customise for specific audiences, based on the information they have in their profiles. First you create a default page, then you can “add audiences” to create new pages that will only be seen by specific people.
  10. Once your company profile is complete, you can click the ‘Promote’ button at the top of the page. From here you can even set a LinkedIn DirectAds advertising campaign if it’s appropriate.

Don’t forget to link your own profile to your new company profile, and make sure you’re doing all the other good things with LinkedIn that you should be doing — establishing your network, staying connected and linking your blog and twitter accounts, etc.
